BMW Concept Coupe Mille Miglia 2006

BMW has unveiled a brand new concept car prior to the 2006 Mille Miglia. With hints of today’s BMW Z4 Coupe and one of BMW’s most famous racing cars, the BMW 328, the BMW Concept Coupe Mille Miglia 2006 took pride of place in Brescia, Italy on May 10 as this year’s entrants were scrutineered ahead of the event.

The concept car looks to both the past and the future in its styling and construction; it pays homage to the outstanding achievements of the engineers who contributed to BMW’s successful motor sport heritage, whilst confirming the passion to construct dynamic cars from the most modern materials and processes available. This remains a fundamental concept for today’s BMW road and race cars.

The Concept Coupe is powered by the multi-award winning BMW six-cylinder inline petrol engine that powers the new BMW Z4 M Coupe. Modifications have been made to the inlet and exhaust systems of the 343 hp unit to give more of a ‘racing’ sound at both idle and full throttle to this 2007 concept car.

The interior of this new BMW concept car retains the functional simplicity prevalent in both 328 racing cars and Z4 production cars, but in a modern presentation. Only three materials are used in this prototype car: thin stainless steel, untreated cowhides, Lycra fabric. This purist form of the cae even extends to letterings, logos and symbols embossed into surfaces using laser technology.

2007 Rolls-Royce 101EX Concept Car

Rolls-Royce prototype car, the 101EX concept, was unveiled at the Geneva show. It's a hand-built model intended to explore a design direction for a future coupé.

"It is a very modern car, a 21st-century design that respectfully nods to the past but focuses indisputably on the future," said Ian Cameron, Rolls-Royce's chief designer.
The 101EX Concept Car from Rolls Royce uses the same light aluminium construction as was developed for the Rolls-Royce Phantom although the body is shorter by 240mm. It's a four-seat coupe with twin coach doors add to the car’s rakish good looks and streamlined coupé profile

The interior of this new Rolls-Royce concept car has been designed for elegance and maximum comfort and features machined aluminium, fine leather and rosewood and red oak veneers. Slim bucket seats offer outstanding comfort for front passengers while the exceptionally spacious rear seat delivers intimate comfort for two.

Ian Robertson, Rolls-Royce chairman and chief executive and former boss of BMW in South Africa, said: "The 2007 concept car : 101EX uses the same engineering philosophy as the Phantom, which balances high technology with hand craftsmanship".

There are, as yet, no plans for a production version of the Rolls Royce 101EX.

2007 concept car - Mazda Kabura

The Mazda Kabura concept car, which made its global debut at the North American International Auto Show in January 2006, continues the Mazda tradition of delivering exhilarating sports cars, while stretching the bounds of interior versatility in new directions.

Designed to appeal to young customers and to support their lifestyles, the new Mazda Kabura prototype car combines the look and feel of an exotic sports car with practicality and affordability, and indicates a possible direction Mazda could take with an exciting compact sports coupe in the future.

New Dodge Hornet concept car

Here are some news about the new Dodge Hornet concept car 2007. Dodge says that its Hornet B-segment concept car is "an ideal combination of American fun and European function."


Rallye-ready and eager to go, the new Dodge Hornet concept vehicle is designed to bring to the B-segment market a unique blending of European sensibility regarding engine size and overall footprint with an American flair for aggressive attitude and flexible interior space.
"We wanted the Dodge Hornet prototype to be dynamic, nimble, fun to drive, and have an adaptable space-efficient interior," said Mark Moushegian, Principal Exterior Designer. "At the same time we set out to create a vehicle with a uniquely American character to expand the image and presence of the Dodge brand in Europe and international markets, especially in the entry-level market."

With its wide stance, the Hornet concept is solidly planted on the road. Up front, the signature Dodge crossbar grille is set above an exposed engine intercooler flanked by front brake air ducts and fog lamps. The raised plateau on the hood features a recessed scoop on the driver's side to funnel air to the engine air box. Underhood is a 1.6L 16-valve OHC supercharged I/C four-cylinder engine putting out 127 kW (170 hp)/224 N•m (165 lb.-ft.) of torque @ 4000 rpm.

Inspired by the look of fashion sunglasses, all the glass in the new Dodge Hornet concept car , including the oversize sunroof, is rendered in a deep "Blue View" tint which contrasts vividly with the car's Liquid Silver exterior.

New Ford Focus convertible

Ford launched a hard-topped coupé-cabriolet version of its Focus at the Geneva auto show.

The automaker says the new Ford Focus Coupé-Cabriolet is its response to the positive feedback on the Ford Vignale concept car shown at the Paris auto show way back in 2004

The chopped Focus with the folding hardtop was developed jointly by Ford Europe and Italy's Pininfarina design house that has a worldwide reputation designing some of the world's most attractive vehicles

The Focus Coupé-Cabriolet from Ford will go into volume production around the middle of 2006.

"We were delighted by the reaction to the Vignale concept car and determined to take it to volume production," said Gunnar Herrmann, vehicle line director for the Focus.

"We also wanted to keep the production model as true to the beautiful concept car as we could while making it convenient and affordable for everyday use."

Saab Aero X - 2007 concept car

The new Saab Aero X concept car runs on 100 percent ethanol and holds 400 horsepower under the hood. Unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show, the Aero X ethanol concept car uses a cockpit canopy instead of doors or windshield pillars.

“The 400-hp, twin-turbo, BioPower V6 engine is fueled entirely by ethanol,” Saab said in a statement touting the environmental benefits of reduced emissions of carbon dioxide, a gas that many scientists tie to global warming.

Saab, a General Motors division that started life by making airplanes in Sweden, hasn’t committed to ever producing the Aero X and even the concept hasn’t been fully tested on a track. Saab would only say that “computer simulations anticipate zero to 62 mph acceleration in just 4.9 seconds and a 155 mph top speed.”

Renault - Dacia Logan Steppe concept car

Dacia has chosen the 2006 Geneva Motor Show to unveil its first-ever show car produced by Renault Design. The Dacia Logan Steppe concept car is developed on the theme of snow sports, it provides a vision of what a leisure vehicle on a Logan base might be.

The new 2006 concept car - Renault Logan Steppe show car demonstrates Dacia's intention to broaden the Logan range, which is also now available with Renault’s 1.5 litre diesel engine. The Steppe is a larger, MPV-type car than the original Logan.

The new Logan Steppe 2007 concept car (also known as Dacia Logan Break) features 17-inch wheels, “flat blade” windscreen wipers and diode Xenon headlamps. Standing at a height of 1.78m including its roof storage system, Logan Steppe concept features wellbalanced proportions. The side strips echo the front-end styling and offer protection along narrow lanes.

Aston Martin Rapide new 2007 concept car

The Rapide concept car is a new Aston Martin 2007 car model that features powered by the V12 engine from the DB9 but with more horsepower, more doors and well, more Aston.
This is a four-door sports coupe equiped "swan wing" doors that open upwards at a 12 degree angle, well away from the gutter to provide greater access.

The extruded aluminium construction of the VH architecture can be modified in both length and width, providing a myriad of packaging options, and the chemically-bonded structure (using glues derived from aircraft manufacture) is mated with bodywork that mixes aluminium and composite materials.

The aim of the new Rapide car concept, according to design director Marek Reichman, was to make the most beautiful four-door car in the world. "In silhouette, three-quarters views and from both the front and rear the Rapide is instantly recognisable as an Aston Martin," Reichman says. "We put character and feeling into the surface. Our designers and modellers work with a sculptural language here at Aston Martin — the play of the light in the surface is important to us."

Prodrive 2007 prototype car

Here is a 2007 protoype car from Prodrive. The new concept called P2 is a two-seater sports car, which has gone from concept to reality in just nine months. The P2 2007 new prototype is a fully working car featuring Prodrive’s latest technology and which has been entirely designed, engineered and built by the motorsport and automotive specialist at its operations at Banbury and Warwick in the UK.
P2 was the idea of Prodrive chairman and chief executive, David Richards, who wanted to create something that used the skills of every part of the business and demonstrated the company’s capabilities.
He said: “What we created is P2, a unique two-seater sports car, which has gone from concept to reality in just nine months and which is the perfect manifestation of what happens when our inspirational ideas combine with our innovative approach.”

The Prodrive P2 concept car uses a modified Subaru Impreza STi engine and all wheel drivetrain, which incorporate two of Prodrive’s innovative technologies to enhance performance – ALS (Anti-Lag System) and ATD (Active Torque Dynamics).
